Vietnam & Soon The World! Welcome to Vietnam Adventures!

Air

Hue's Phu Bai airport is about 10 km south of town. A desk in the arrivals hall sells taxi fare for about US$6 or bus fare for about US$2 per person. There are daily flights to and from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Flight time is about one hour.

Train

Those traveling by train will arrive and depart at the Hue Train Station at the end of Le Loi street. From there it's a short taxi or cyclo ride to downtown. Figure about US$2-3 for the former and US$1 for the latter. There are two daily trains to and from Danang, one local and one express. The express train takes about 4 hours and costs US$5. It's a great way to travel between these cities – the scenery alone is worth the trip! Beyond that, train travel in Vietnam will try the patience of a saint; it won't save you much money either. The "express train" to/from Saigon or Hanoi takes close to 24 hours.

Bus

If you're traveling by bus, you'll be lucky to arrive at all. Even hard-core travelers who have done the bus scene in other developing countries should think twice before getting on a bus here. As an alternative, minibus service is available from Hoi An or Danang for US$4-5 per person. (They usually make stops at Lang Co, Hai Van Pass and Marble Mountain, stretching the journey to about 5 hours.)
